Day 47: Snow Day Redux

The remnants of the icy weather were still lingering today so the Matus kids enjoyed another day at home which meant Juneau & Nova reaped the benefits of another full day of playing with their cousins.

By early afternoon though, everyone was tired of being couped up so a trip to the YMCA became mandatory.

After dinner at Penn Station (mmmm...Penn Station!), it was back to Aunt Coral's house for more wildness.


Juneau, who is usually at the front of the pack leading the wildness, got interested in a lego project and stayed upstairs with Uncle Ed while everyone else went down to the basement...

...and had a marshmallow gun fight:

The outcome of this marshmallow was was no where near as catastrophic as the epic Christmas marshmallow war at Great-grandma Stickley's house after which marshmallow's were being found behind furniture and in the light fixtures for a full 2 years afterwards.

The girls continue to revel in the constant attention they get from having the whole gang of Aunt Coral and the cousins around.

You can see how happy the attention makes Nova.

If you were keeping track of today's events, you'll notice - no nap for Juneau & Nova in there. But, they are so stimulated by the constant playing that they really did great and were up until 9:30. Once their heads hit the pillows though, they were out cold.

On a bright note, finally about 9:00 pm last night, the delivery service for Delta got the carseat from Columbus to Toledo which made it possible to venture out of the house today.

Tomorrow, the big 7th grade girls basketball game between undefeated Lake and archrival Genoa takes place. The Matus girls are very nervous about the game, especially since they've had to miss 2 days of practice since school was closed. Full highlights and results tomorrow night either on SportCenter following the game or else at least on this blog.

A quick Emilie update: Because she has been working 24 hours on / 24 hours off and is the only MD at the Aid Station and getting called every single night, she has been super busy. Combine that with the fact that the internet has been especially spotty the last week or so and she hasn't had much time or ability to provide her own updates.

However, many people have been emailing me and asking how she is doing. In short, she is doing well and things have been relatively quiet. She has been overwhelmed by the love and support she is getting from back home - yesterday she received 7 care packages in one day!!

So, thank you SOOOO much to everyone for all the love and support being sent Emilie's way in the form of care packages, good thoughts and prayers!
