Day 170 / 27 To Go: Grandma!!

From the moment they woke up this morning, Juneau and Nova knew what today was - the day Grandma gets here! That didn't mean they weren't still going to take in their morning episode of Dora while I talked to Emilie on the phone. Not awake yet? In the middle of playing this morning, Juneau needed a break and went over to take a rest in the "barn" (which is actually just where their Bullseye's sleep under the TV) I spent the morning cleaning the house in preparation for Grandma's arrival. The girls were anxious to help out... Nova was exhausted tired at lunchtime but I was still not convinced nap would be easy - they were so excited about going to the airport to get Grandma. And sure enough...nap was NOT easy. They did eventually fall asleep for the shortest bit of time but only a short time later I went downstairs to hear giggling coming from the end of the hall so I snuck down and captured this:


The next step was a bath to make them presentable for seeing grandma. Grandma's flight was stuck in Minneapolis and for a time it looked like she was going to miss her connection to Honolulu and have to spend the night in Seattle...but luckily there were 70 people on her flight who were catching that connection to Honolulu so they held the plane in Seattle waiting for them to get there.

After getting all cleaned up, and playing for awhile, we killed the last little bit of time by settling down for a show. You might ask, why do the girls look like a sweaty mess in this picture if they just had a bath? Well, mainly because it was really HOT here today and they spent the hour prior to those pictures doing this:


Finally, we got to the airport and had some time to wait which was just fine with the girls who filled the time with games: The "Stretching Game"... Finally it was time to get ready... They had it all planned out that they were going to hide behind this planter and jump out when Grandma came down the hall... The length of the wait outpaced their patience in waiting behind the planter so they came out to watch... Finally!!! We finally made it home and even though it was 10:30, the girls were too excited to realize how tired they were. I finally convinced them Grandma would still be here tomorrow and they would have plenty of time to play...and they were off to start dreaming of all the fun stuff they have in store for Grandma for the next 2 weeks.
