Day 135 / 61 To Go: Getting to know the neighbors

A few hours of playing this morning included: "Jessie isn't feeling good. I'm going to be the doctor and check her out."
In the car on the way to our next adventure for the day Nova announced: "Jessie is feeling better at home now."

Our adventure for the day involved a birthday party for our neighbor. Henry turned 4 this week and Juneau and Nova were invited to his birthday party at a cool playground over in Kailua.

The playground is fairly new and has some really cool features. The girls had a blast.

The girls are totally into climbing these days. Both of them talk about their rock climbing outings alot and Juneau keeps telling me how she's not afraid when she's rock climbing.

Today's playground equipment really provided lots of opportunities to indulge their climbing skills.

Juneau was proud of herself for mastering the fire pole all by herself:

The highlights of the day were obviously the cupcakes...





and especially for Nova, playing with the balloons.

Nova acted like she had never had the priviledge of playing with a balloon before...
...and even when we got home she spent the rest of the evening throwing the balloon up in the air and catching it.

The birthday party was a small casual get together and most of the guests were folks from our neighborhood/street. I already knew Henry's parents pretty well since they live directly next door to us but there were several people there from our street who I wave to when they drive or walk their dogs past the house but hadn't formally met so even though for me, the party involved lots of chit chatting and small talk (and you know how painful that is for me), still it was nice to get to know the folks in our new neighborhood.

And apparently Juneau and Nova are such a distinctive pair that midway through the day while I was standing there watching them run around the playground, one of the former military/now civilian OB/GYN's at Tripler who worked with Emilie during residency, who I had met probably one time, who had no reason to think that Emilie or anyone connected to her would be back in Hawaii, recognized my kind of strangely paired girls in matching Star Wars shirts and came up to me and said "Is your wife and OB/GYN?"..."Yes"..."Are you Emilie's husband?".

My girls are an unforgettable duo!!

As of this afternoon we have a plane ticket for Grandma Saccenti's upcoming trip to see us after Nelson and Katy leave. We can't wait!!
